NAPPS to host discussion on ‘Opportunity School District’ amendment

NAPPS (North Atlanta Parents for Public Schools) will hold a roundtable discussion of Senate Bill 133—the “Opportunity School District” constitutional amendment on the Nov. 8 general election ballot—during its meeting Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the Sutton Middle School Northside Drive Campus.

If passed, the OSD legislation would allow for state takeover of local schools deemed failing by an established set of metrics. While none of the North Atlanta cluster schools are currently at risk for takeover, State takeover of other APS schools could impact the district’s budget and cluster funding.
