On July 21, BuckheadView reported that Coro Realty Advisors was scaling back for the present time on plans it filed almost a year ago for a major multi-use development adjacent to the Disco Kroger shopping center that would be an addition to its present Buckhead Place multi-use center.

Coro’s founder and President John Lundeen did not discuss the reason the company is scaling back on the plans first announced by BuckheadView in August 2015.

Original plans included almost 40,000 square feet of retail/restaurant/office space, 190 apartment units and the 108,659-square-foot hotel, which is the only part of the original planned development that will move forward at present time.

The originally proposed new multi-use development was planned as an addition to Buckhead Place, a 150,000-square-foot shopping center that presently includes LA Fitness, Marshalls, apartment building 05 Buckhead and a Hyatt Place hotel.

Two retail components of the proposed new development were to front on the west side of Piedmont Road north of Peachtree Road and the hotel and apartment lobbies were to front on a private access road that runs from Piedmont Road to Maple Drive.

The 186-room hotel was to be located on the south side of the access road along with approximately 5,500 square feet of ground-level retail/restaurant space. It was not immediately clear whether the retail/restaurant space will now be developed along with the hotel, although the new rendering does not show that space.

McKibbon Hospitality has selected Sarasota, Fla.-based Kellogg & Kimsey as the general contractor. The development team expects to break ground on the hotel in September.
