APS to host 2nd annual Back To School Bash July 30 for students, families

Atlanta Public Schools (APS) will host its second annual APS Back To School Bash from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sat., July 30 at the Georgia World Congress Center, Building A, located at 285 Andrew Young International Blvd, NW, Atlanta, GA 30313.

Exclusively for APS students and their families, the Bash is a one-stop shop for all incoming and returning APS students to learn about everything students will need for the first day of school, Wednesday, Aug. 3.

With over 70 exhibitors, the Bash will include APS programs and services, free health screenings, community and afterschool resources, fun activities for children, raffles and prize giveaways and a free backpack stuffed with school supplies (while supplies last). Students in grades PreK-12 must be present and show their APS report card to receive a backpack.

The Bash will also showcase the Sodexo Food truck to sample school menu offerings, Grady High School’s G3Robotics team, the Fox5 StormChaser, the Atlanta Dream, and the New Atlanta Public Schools Police Department. Premiere sponsors for the event include Newell Brands, Gas South, Georgia Natural Gas, Georgia-Pacific Foundation, Google fiber, Pinnacle Credit Union, Waffle House, Graphic Packaging and Metro PCS.

Admission is free for all APS families.

For Buckhead families, free shuttle bus transportation will be provided to and from the Bash at 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. from Sutton Middle School, 2875 Northside Dr., NW.

All buses will depart 15 minutes after each arrival and no strollers or infants are permitted on the buses. APS students who require special needs transportation to and from the APS Back to School Bash may call 404-802-5500 to schedule a pick-up time and location.
