Buckhead to get Global Payments headquarters, 150 high-paying jobs
City economic development officials told members of the City Council Finance Executive Wednesday afternoon that the economic development project that had been codenamed Project Spinoza will move its headquarters from Sandy Springs to Buckhead.
Three Alliance Center, Tishman Speyer’s 30-story office tower under construction at Lenox Road, is expected to land the Global Payments headquarters, according to the Business Chronicle.
The payments processor, now based on Glenlake Parkway, was said to be scouting for up to 250,000 square feet of office space, according to the ABC report.
Global Payments reportedly will receive up to $75,000 in an Economic Opportunity Fund grant from Atlanta, once the City Council votes on the package next week.
An economic development official on Monday described Spinoza as a competitive project and a win for Metro Atlanta. The company considered other cities in the Southeast for the headquarters relocation, the official told Atlanta Business Chronicle.
Project Spinoza was competitive and required a “string of NDAs (non-disclosure agreements)” to be signed,” Invest Atlanta Senior Vice President Kevin Johnson told the finance committee. “It was very clandestine,” Johnson said.
