APD arrests 1 person in both OK Cafe and Lenox robberies, carjackings

The Atlanta Police Department has arrested Carlos Twine for both the June 13 Buckhead armed robbery and carjacking in the parking lot of the OK Café and the carjacking of a 70-year-old grandmother outside the Lenox Square Neiman Marcus store that same week.

Anita Thomas was with her grandchildren at Nieman Marcus when the crime happened. She was approached by a man with a gun in the parking deck. Thomas gave the man her keys and her phone. Thomas’ car, a blue 2015 Mercedes Benz, was found later in southwest Atlanta.

In the OK Cafe incident, a carjacker approached a couple with their young child in the restaurant’s parking lot and demanded their keys at gunpoint. Police tracked the car, but the suspect got into another vehicle and escaped.

At the time of the incidents, police didn’t know if the two crimes were connected. But, thanks to a thorough investigation by APD Zone 2 Detectives, they connected Twine to both crimes and have taken this armed and dangerous criminal off the streets of Atlanta.
