Weekend temps to feel like almost 100; thunderstorms in forecast

Temperatures this weekend will get to the upper 90s, with the heat index, or “feels like” temperature, reaching nearly 100 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. And, there is a threat of isolated severe thunderstorms as well.

“Dangerous heat index values will mean that heat exhaustion or heat stroke can quickly occur to anyone working outside or participating in outdoor activities,” notes a NWS statement.

Locally, damaging winds and frequent lightning will be the most likely hazards of any strong to severe storms, according to the weather service.

Here’s the heat index timeline for the weekend.

Saturday:

10 a.m.: 92 degrees

11 a.m: 95 degrees

Noon: 98 degrees

1 p.m.: 99 degrees

2 p.m.: 97 degrees

5 p.m.: 98 degrees

7 p.m.: 96 degrees

8 p.m.: 95 degrees

9 p.m.: 92 degrees

Sunday:

8 a.m.: 77 degrees

9 a.m.: 83 degrees

10 a.m.: 87 degrees

11 a.m.: 90 degrees

Noon: 92 degrees

1 p.m.: 95 degrees

2 p.m.: 94 degrees

5 p.m.: 95 degrees

7 p.m.: 94 degrees

8 p.m.: 92 degrees

9 p.m.: 89 degrees
