Coalition criticizes hotel booking services for inaccurate hotel listings

Buckhead Coalition Executive Vice President Garth Peters challenged internet hotel booking services to be more accurate in marketing properties by where they are actually located during a recent meeting of the Buckhead Hotel Council.

The speaker at the monthly meeting of the organization of Buckhead hotel general managers was from Expedia, one of the largest travel sales agencies.

Peters pointed out specific examples of hotel properties listed as being in Buckhead that were not even in the city limits of Atlanta, much less in Buckhead.

“This not only isn’t fair to the visitor who finds himself or herself not in this community, but it’s equally an unfair trade practice costing the hotels in Buckhead potential business”, explained Peters.

The Coalition brought this situation to the attention of all of the major internet arrangements a number of years ago, at which time corrections were put in place by several of the operators.

“It’s time to readdress the issue” individual hotel GMs agreed, and Expedia has pledged to take corrective action.
