Fellini’s on Peachtree rezoning on NPU-B committee agenda for May 31
Fellini’s owner Clay Harper told BuckheadView Thursday morning that he plans to show up at the NPU-B Zoning Committee meeting “to introduce what we have in mind, then meet with representatives of the (Garden Hills) neighborhood when possible.”
Both the present Fellini’s and LaFonda restaurants will be torn down and replaced with a new Fellini’s only, according to Harper’s plan. The new plan will feature a larger indoor seating area, the restaurant’s signature patio dining and a great deal more parking.
Harper told BuckheadView May 2 that plans are very much in the initial rough and evolving stage at the moment, but the company has filed plans to rezone the one-third-acre parcel from C-1 to MRC-2 and a July 7 hearing date has been set for the application review.

Harper is working on the plans with his longtime architect friend Ron Stang, principal with Stevens & Wilkinson (the firm that is doing the design work for the Georgia State University’s new College of Law Building). It was Stang who filed the rezoning application for Fellini’s.
Asked this week if BuckheadView could obtain copies of the site plan and any preliminary renderings that might be available, Harper said, “They are preparing drawings now. These drawings are
revisions based on comments we made on preliminary ideas, so I haven’t got anything to show yet.”
However, BuckheadView understands from sources that the site plan shows a large outdoors deck primarily facing Rumson Road to the south of the property and also shows berms along Rumson to buffer the deck and the planned parking area under the patio.
After originally announcing last year that LaFonda was being closed down for total renovations but would reopen this year, Harper told BuckheadView it was determined the site was not large enough to house two successful restaurants. The decision was made to focus on Fellini’s.
The NPU-B Zoning Committee meets the last Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. in a meeting room at The Cathedral of St. Philip, 2744 Peachtree Road NW.
