Tomorrow Tour event in Buckhead explores local tech innovators

Atlanta Tech Village in Buckhead today hosted Tomorrow Tour, a multi-city event series that brings together entrepreneurs with technology and innovation influencers for a full day of knowledge-sharing to help better articulate Atlanta’s innovation story.

Sponsored by Comcast NBCUniversal and Technical.ly, the network of tech news sites, Tomorrow Tour explores the role of entrepreneurship in growing tech cities, such as Atlanta. The TomorrowTomorrow Tour logo Tour also visited Philadelphia, Denver, Miami, Chicago and Detroit in 2016.

“With investments of $200 million per year for the last 20 years statewide, we are strongly committed to Atlanta and to understanding the importance of healthy entrepreneurship to help drive growth and innovation,” said Doug Guthrie, regional senior vice president for Comcast. “Through the Tomorrow Tour, we are proud to connect with innovators here in Atlanta that represent the next generation of startups.”

During Tomorrow Tour Atlanta, leaders from Comcast NBCUniversal will sit alongside existing and emerging entrepreneurs for discussions about what’s possible when entrepreneurship, technology and innovation converge to create stronger cities.

The mission of Tomorrow Tour is to:

  • Explore and document how tech and entrepreneur networks are shaping the future of Atlanta;
  • Build and strengthen collaboration across sectors that can fuel startup growth;
  • Celebrate success stories, and identify best practices and areas of opportunity that will strengthen Atlanta’s startup ecosystems; and
  • Uncover and amplify the best innovation and technology stories in each market.

“Atlanta’s startup and innovation community is blossoming and primed for global impact, so now we need to tell our story,” said Joey Womack, founder and CEO of Amplify 4 Good, a social good consultancy that supports dozens of companies worldwide. “That’s why I’m participating in the Tomorrow Tour, a chance to share what’s working here and learn from other emerging entrepreneurship communities.”

Attendees include a diverse cross-section of the community from entrepreneurs, technologists and social enterprises to policymakers, new thinkers and educators.

Some of the local entrepreneurs and leaders participating in panel discussions and case studies in Atlanta include: Christopher Wink, Technical.ly; Derek Woodgate, Futures Lab; Derek Kellogg, Georgia JA; Max Chesney, Digital Crafts; James Andrews, True Story Agency; Scott Graham, Mimmer; Tino Mantella, Tech Association of Georgia, and Michelle Morgan, NEXAtlanta.

Following the Tomorrow Tour, Technical.ly will curate an online toolkit with tangible advice, videos and resources from local and national partners. This free “how-to-guide” will help startups perfect their pitch by providing best practices and tips for storytelling.
