Windsor Parkway off Roswell Road reopened after sinkhole repair

The city of Sandy Springs road crews recently completed necessary repairs to Windsor Parkway and reopened the road that is a popular route for many North Buckhead residents to take to the hospitals and doctors’ offices located at “Pill Hill.”

The road was closed Jan. 15 due to structural integrity issues related to the stormwater detention construction taking place at Windsor Parkway and Jolyn Place.

Windsor is being realigned northwest from near Jolyn to Roswell Road so it will intersect Roswell Road at the new Gateway mixed-use development. It is expected to improve traffic flow there by making that intersection a 90-degree angle.

Windsor currently intersects Roswell just south at a shopping center where Einstein Bros. Bagels and other businesses are located. The realigned portion of Windsor is expected to open in mid-April.

Summit Construction and Baldwin Construction were hired by Sandy Springs to handle the project’s stormwater and realignment portions, respectively. Summit was blamed for causing a sinkhole in the road and a new contractor was hired. Baldwin remains on the project.

While Windsor Parkway was closed, residents living in the Meadowbrook neighborhood next to where Windsor was closed complained about commuters and others cutting through the neighborhood and driving too fast there.
