Mercedes carjacked near Saks Fifth Avenue at Phipps Plaza on Sunday
Officer T. Simmons, was dispatched to Phipps Plaza in reference to a carjacking. “Upon arrival I met the victim who stated he was carjacked,” Simmons wrote in his report.
“The victim stated he had just parked at the location near Saks Fifth Avenue when a male from a dark SUV parked on the curb nearby got out of the passenger seat of the vehicle and approached him while he was walking away from his vehicle,” according to Simmons’ report.
“The suspect then pulled a black in color pistol out and pointed at the victim’s chest and told him to drop the keys. The victim dropped his keys and wallet but the suspect only took the keys and left the scene in the victim’s car,” according to the report.
The dark SUV, later found to be a newer model GMC Yukon, followed behind the victim’s vehicle getting onto Lenox Road going toward GA 400, the APD report said.
“The victim’s vehicle, a 2015 Mercedes s550 , does have tracking, but we were unable to activate it through the Mercedez Benz dealership,” the APD report states.
The suspect was described as a black male about 5-foot 9 inches to 5-foot 11 inches in height, with a mustache and wearing dark clothing with a large logo on the back side of the shirt.
There were no injuries reported by the victim.
