9 thieves fail to get Gucci cache in 4:30 a.m. Phipps Plaza incident

A group of individuals walked through an unlocked front door at Phipps Plaza mall at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday and attempted to steal merchandise from the Gucci store, according a report from Atlanta Police.

Surveillance cameras recorded three vehicles — a burnt orange new model Chevy Camaro, a silver Ford Fusion and a silver Toyota Camry — pulling up to the front entrance of Phipps Plaza at about 4:30 a.m.

“Approximately nine subjects entered the mall through an unlocked front door,” states the APD report.

After gaining entrance into the mall, the group then tried to break through the Gucci store’s door. But, despite causing “significant damage” they were unable to make their way into the high-fashion store.

The group left the scene in their cars and police reportedly are on a citywide lookout for the vehicles.
