Severe weather, record high temps forecast for Christmas holiday

Tornadoes are possible on Thursday, Christmas Eve, as metro Atlanta and north Georgia brace for one of the wettest and hottest Christmas Day’s on record.

The National Weather Service has forecast most of the rain to move out of the area on Wednesday morning with some isolated storms remaining in the area, according to Channel 2 Action News.

But a cold front is forecast to approach late Wednesday night, bringing more storms and a chance of severe weather — including tornadoes — into Christmas Eve morning.

A high temperature of 72 is forecast for Thursday, and the Christmas Day high temperature record of 72 degrees may fall, as a high of 75 is predicted.
