In an email this week, the market’s executive director Lauren Carey announced that the Saturday morning markets for 2016 will begin April 2 and run through Dec. 17 and the new Wednesday evening market will open on April 13 and run through Oct. 26 from 4:30-8 p.m.

“Our artists are producing fine jewelry, original paintings and photography, hand-stitched and knitted clothing items & accessories, doggy treats and pet goodies, bath and body collections, pottery, fiber and paper art, woven baskets, and much more,” Carey said.

“Since its founding in 2007, the Peachtree Road Farmers Market has become the state’s largest producer-only farmers market, which means all items are sold by the farmer/maker with no reselling,” Carey explained. “The early leadership saw that Atlanta demanded farm-fresh produce, meats, and dairy, and the community supported their idea with open arms and shopping baskets.”

The Market continues eight years later as a nonprofit organization housed at The Cathedral of St. Philip.

“The relationship between the vendors and chefs and shoppers creates a sense of community that brings people together to laugh, share, and enjoy each other,” Carey said. “We’ve seen couples come to the market on their first date, they’ve taken engagement photos here, and now their children race through the market to greet their farmer friends.”

Carey pointed out that the market would not be possible without support from its sponsors (Country Financial, Piedmont Healthcare, Wholesome Wave Georgia, Whole Foods Buckhead, and Beautiful Briny Sea), its host, The Cathedral of St. Philip, the team of 29 volunteers, and the farmers, vendors and artisans.
