248-room dual-brand hotel planned for Stratford Road in Buckhead

Plans for an eight-level dual-brand 248-room hotel on Stratford Road in Buckhead’s central business district is scheduled to be presented Wednesday to the Development Review Committee of SPI-12 (Special Public Interest district) for review and comment.

The hotel, which would be located across Stratford Road from the pedestrian bridge to the Buckhead MARTA station, which was opened earlier this year, would include a 150-room Hilton Garden Inn and a 98-room Homewood Suites by Hilton.

According to the plans recently submitted to the city by engineering firm Kimley-Horn, the hotel will also include 4,500-square-feet of dining space and 3,424-square-feet of meeting space, which would likely be shared by the two hotels.

The only indication of the possible company developing the company is the listing on the SPI-12 DRC agenda which lists the name Stratford Hotel and the applicant as Shannon Skinner, who is a landscape architect with Kimley-Horn. Atlanta-based Rabun Rasche Rector Reece is the architect on the project.

Residents in the high-rise condo who have been very concerned about all of the additional traffic on Stratford Road with the new Skyhouse apartments and office building construction, might at least hope that guests staying at one of the two hotels might prefer to use MARTA for their transportation needs rather than adding more vehicles to the busy road.
