Park Pride seeking nominations for its 2016 Inspiration Awards

Park Pride, the nonprofit in Atlanta and DeKalb County that works with communities to improve their parks, is seeking nominations for the 2016 Inspiration Awards, which recognize leaders forDSC_0276outstanding achievements in expanding and improving public parks and greenspaces.

The annual Inspiration Awards recognize those leaders who inspire others to expand and improve public parks and greenspaces and raising awareness about critical, relevant issues.

For 2016, nominations for the annual Inspiration Awards are sought on behalf of individuals who embody the theme of the 15th Annual Parks and Greenspace Conference, “Parks & Play: A Conversation for All Ages”, and raise awareness about critical, relevant issues.

“The conference theme will explore how play can activate our parks and strengthen our communities,” explains Ayanna Williams, Park Pride’s director of Community Building. “Therefore, we’d like to honor individuals who are leaders in their communities who have strengthened the fabric of their community through play in parks.”

The Inspiration Awards nominees will be assessed by the following criteria:

Two Buckhead leaders were recipients of the awards last year. They were North Buckhead Civic Association President Gordon Certain and Jeff Clark, president of the Garden Hills Foundation and vice president of the Garden Hills Civic Association, who led efforts to build a new pool clubhouse and improve the pool facilities in the Garden Hills neighborhood.
