La Fonda Latina in Buckhead closes until spring for renovations
A La Fonda spokesperson indicated to TNT “they plan to renew the restaurant’s liquor license and plan to make some changes to make better use of the space during its hiatus.”
According to the TNT article [here], La Fonda’s space is quite small and it does a fraction of the business of adjacent Fellini’s. TNT speculated that “ownership may actually re-concept the space, similar to their tweaks made at their current Great Good BBQ in Sandy Springs.
The Buckhead La Fonda and Fellini’s are not part of the Brand Properties redevelopment of the former Garden Hills shopping center tract next door which may begin early next year if the plans
for a 7-story office building with retail on Peachtree road are approved by the city.
La Fonda Latina, Fellini’s Pizza, Greater Good BBQ and Three on the Tree are all owned by business partners Clay Harper and Mike Nelson. There are four other La Fonda locations open including another near Buckhead on Howell Mill Road on the Westside.
Frank Ski’s place now “e11even45”
Frank Ski’s place in Buckhead, which opened as his lounge and closed as his Klass, soon will reopen as e11even45 (or Elleven Forty-Five), a restaurant and fun place at 2110 Peachtree Road, according to a report by Skyline Views news service.
A sign with the new name replaced the “Klass” sign, which itself replaced the “Frank Ski’s Lounge” sign, all within a relatively short period of time.
On Friday Nov. 13, Djibril Dafe of Atlanta filed for a permit to build out a restaurant in the space at the entrance to the Bennett Street Market. The establishment reportedly will offer food and drinks.
