GDOT extends Peachtree Rd. plan public comment to Nov. 16

The Georgia Department of Transportation has decided to extend the comment period following its Oct. 29 public open house on its “preferred alternative” for the Peachtree Road Transformation Project—Pharr to Deering roads—from this past Monday, Nov. 9, to Nov. 16.

If residents have not had time to submit feedback, it is highly recommended they do so by Monday, Nov. 16, since everyone’s voice will be considered by GDOT in making this important decision.

Briefly, the proposed plan calls for adding a two-way left-turn lane on Peachtree all the way from Pharr Road to Deering Road as a means of reducing accidents on the corridor.

The GDOT plan calls for restriping so that there will be three southbound thru-traffic lanes and two northbound thru-traffic lanes on Peachtree from Peachtree Battle Avenue to Pharr Road.

South of Peachtree Battle Avenue to Deering Road, the GDOT proposal calls for two thru-traffic lanes both northbound and southbound, the center left-turn lane and bike lanes on both sides of the road northbound and southbound.

In order to get more information and to present a comment regarding the proposed plan, see GDOT’s website (http://www.dot.ga.gov). In order to submit a comment, under “Announcements” Select “Submit Comments for Proposed Peachtree Road Project”.
