Dexter Harper allegedly shot and killed Emmanuel C. Nwankwo on Oct. 1 at the Buckhead office tower formerly known as Tower Place 200 and now called 3348 Peachtree.

During a preliminary hearing Friday, a police detective testified that Harper believed Nwankwo was possessed by a demon and that God had ordered him to carry out the act, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution report.

The two men were on guard duty about 5 a.m. Oct. 1 when shots rang out inside 3348 Peachtree, Atlanta police spokesman Elizabeth Espy said. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered Nwankwo dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Espy said that Harper was detained, removed from the scene, and questioned by police, after which a warrant was secured for his arrest.
