Construction crane collapses at Buckhead AMLI apartment project

A construction crane collapsed Thursday afternoon (Oct. 15) at an AMLI apartment project on Lakeside Drive, near the intersection of Roxboro and Kingsboro roads in Buckhead,

WXIA-TV reported its news chopper spotted a large red crane bent in half, with the top end hanging over the top of a concrete structure, the parking deck under construction at the new AMLI apartment complex.

No other nearby structures were damaged by the collapse.

Atlanta Fire Rescue spokeswoman Janet Ward reported that four people were rescued who were left stranded following the crane’s collapse, but said there were no injuries to report.

The AMLI project stretches from the corner of Roxboro and East Paces Ferry Roads, north toward Kingsboro Road and west to Lakeside and near Oak Valley Road.
