Retail technology firm Aptos, Inc. picks Buckhead for global headquarters

Retail technology firm Aptos Inc., which develops cloud-based software that helps retailers improve efficiency and cost management, has picked Buckhead as the site of its global headquarters after spinning off from Austin, Texas-based Epicor Software Corp. in June.

In the past two years, Aptos (formerly Epicor Retail Solutions) acquired retail analytics provider QuantiSense and e-commerce startup ShopVisible, both Atlanta-based. Aptos also has locations in Columbus, Ohio; Newburgh, New York; and Montreal, according to a statement.

Aptos has leased more than 17,000 square feet at Buckhead office tower Resurgens Plaza. The company employs nearly 90 at its Atlanta headquarters, with plans to boost the local workforce 15 percent to 20 percent by year-end.

Historically, a banking and real estate hub, Buckhead is attracting technology companies and the millennial workforce they rely on, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

In July, Chicago-based online job site said it would lease more than 30,000 square feet on two floors at the 13-story Two Live Oak across from Lenox Square mall.

In April, Amazon took a 20,000-square-foot lease at Terminus 200. Earlier this year, Salesforce began an expansion of its Buckhead office that will create about 300 jobs.

Last summer, Silicon Valley-based marketing automation firm Marketo opened an East Coast hub in Buckhead that will grow to 200 jobs over the next few years.
