UGA School of Law to open Buckhead campus in spring of 2016
The first program at the Atlanta campus will be the Atlanta Semester in Practice, which will offer second- and third-year students the opportunity to receive full-time, practical experience through placements in the judicial, government, corporate and nonprofit arenas.
Students who spend a semester at the Atlanta campus will work full time in placements that include the Office of the Governor, the Office of the Attorney General, the Georgia Supreme Court and the House Democratic Caucus, as well as a number of other government, nonprofit and corporate locations.
In addition to the externships, students will take a clinical seminar and upper-level courses, allowing them to earn a total of up to 16 credits for the semester.
“Alongside our other experiential programs and our semester in Washington, D.C., and our semester at Oxford, this latest opportunity is one more way we are ensuring that students at Georgia Law are receiving first-rate legal training and learning experiences that will allow them to succeed,” said Georgia Law Dean Peter B. “Bo” Rutledge.
