John Mori succeeds founding father as CEO of Mori Luggage & Gifts

Buckhead resident John Mori has been named CEO of Doraville-based Mori Luggage & Gifts, succeeding his father, Jean Mori, who founded the company in October 1971 and who will remain

involved in the business as the board chairman.

John Mori joined the company in October 1989 as area manager of stores and advertising director. After 10 years working in every facet of the business, he was named president in 1999. Since then he has continued to lead the company’s growth by overseeing all operational areas including merchandising, marketing and store expansion into new markets.

Mori Luggage & Gifts currently has 28 stores in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Florida.

“John’s 26-year history at Mori Luggage & Gifts, his education, knowledge of the travel goods industry, personal capabilities, energy and strong enthusiasm for our company’s concepts all qualify him extremely well to be our CEO,” said Jean Mori.

John Mori is a graduate of Wake Forest University and received his master’s degree in business administration from Goizueta Business School at Emory University.

He is active in the community serving on the Georgia Chamber of Commerce board, the Dean’s Council at Emory’s Rollins School of Public Health, the Rotary Club of Atlanta, the Peachtree Road United Methodist Church finance committee and the World Presidents’ Organization.

He is also a past president and current executive committee member of the National Luggage Dealers Association.
