Police investigating break-ins of 31 cars at south Buckhead condos
Police told WSB-TV that the 31 cars broken into by thieves at the condominium complex, included a vintage Rolls-Royce. It may take days to assess the damage caused by the crime spree, the APD said.
A witness told police he saw one set of four black males leave the parking lot in a gold Honda CRV, and spotted another set of four black males leave in a black Nissan Altima. Other witnesses told police the two groups had been spotted on different ends of the parking lot.
Stolen items listed in police reports include an Xbox controller (which was later discovered with blood on it), an iPhone 5, a book bag with an HP laptop inside, and a poncho. At least seven of the cars were dusted for fingerprints, according to one police report.
An employee at the complex, who was also a victim of a break-in, told police the parking lots had security cameras, although he did not know how to operate them.
According to a police report, the victim told police that the day watch manager at the complex should be able to secure the security camera footage.
Meanwhile, a Fulton County Marshal’s service revolver was stolen during another round of car break-ins in Buckhead early Wednesday morning.
According to a report from CBS46, the break-ins happened at Berkeley Heights apartment complex on Northside Drive. As many as 14 vehicles were broken into during the incident. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that another dozen or more were broken into on Sidney Marcus Boulevard and Peachtree Hills.
