Vice President Biden to speak at Buckhead Eizenstat Lecture Sept. 3

Vice President Joe Biden will be in Buckhead Thursday (Sept. 3) to deliver remarks at the Fran Eizenstat and Eizenstat Family Annual Lecture at 7:30 p.m. at Ahavath Achim Synagogue 600 Peachtree Battle Avenue.

Biden will address “Challenges Facing the U.S. and the World in the 21st Century”. The free lecture is open to the public and no tickets or reservations are required.

The appearance comes amid increased talk of Biden’s possible run for the presidency. The New York Times recently reported that Biden and his associates have begun to actively explore a possible presidential campaign, which would upend the Democratic field and deliver a direct threat to Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Biden’s advisers reportedly have started to reach out to Democratic leaders and donors who have not yet committed to Clinton or who have grown concerned about what they see as her increasingly visible vulnerabilities as a candidate.

In 2005, then-Senator Clinton gave a similar speech at the same location and her appearance was followed by a fundraiser that produced an extra $31,000 for her re-election campaign. Biden was last seen in these parts raising money for Michelle Nunn’s U.S. Senate campaign last year.

AA Synagogue is located at the corner of Peachtree Battle Avenue and Northside Drive in the heart of Buckhead. For more information, go to www.aasynagogue.org.
