IP attorney, Gas South CEO, consultant/author to speak to BBA

An intellectual property attorney, the head of a leading provider of natural gas and a popular author are on tap to speak at the Buckhead Business Association’s (BBA) Thursday breakfast meetings in coming weeks.

Atlanta attorney Sonia Lakhany will address the BBA during its breakfast meeting on Aug. 27. Lakhany is the owner of Lakhany Law, PC, a boutique intellectual property law firm in the Midtown/Buckhead area.

Prior to starting her own law practice, Lakhany practiced for several years at firms in Washington, DC and here in Atlanta.

Lakhany focuses on trademark and copyright prosecution and in addition to corporate and transactional law. In addition to her law practice, she teaches trademark law part-time and speaks and blogs regularly on the topic. She was recently named a “2015 Influential Insider” by Jezebel Magazine for her innovative approach to law practice.

Kevin Greiner, president and CEO of Gas South, will speak to the organization on Sept. 10. The Atlanta-based utility company serves about 280,000 business, governmental and residential customers in Georgia and Florida.

The Sept. 17 meeting will feature Becky Blalock, a managing partner at Advisory Capital consulting firm and the author of “Dare: Straight Talk on Confidence, Courage, and Career for Women in Charge.”

The BBA meets at 7:30 a.m. most Thursday mornings at the City Club of Buckhead and features a mix of business, political and civic leaders as speakers. Tickets for members are $10 in advance and $12 at the door; non-member tickets are $20. The ticket price includes a continental breakfast and validated self-parking.

Meanwhile, the BBA is also preparing for September’s Taste of Buckhead, featuring at least 17 of Buckhead’s top chefs and restaurants and beer and wine vendors at the Buckhead Theatre from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Sept. 24.

General admission tickets are $50 and VIP tickets are $75. As part of the event, attendees can taste dishes from premier restaurants and sample more than 50 wines, beers and spirits.
