Smash-and-grab thieves hit Buckhead Atlanta Christian Louboutin store
Atlanta police are searching for more than a dozen suspects who stole about $60,000 worth of handbags and shoes from the upscale Christian Louboutin store in Buckhead Atlanta during a smash-and-grab crime at 2 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 19).
According to a police report, officers responded to a robbery in progress call at the Christian Louboutin store at 3065 Peachtree Road on Wednesday morning and learned from Buckhead Atlanta security that some $60,000 worth of merchandise had been stolen from the store.
Christian Louboutin is a high-end French footwear designer known for using red-lacquered soles. Retailer websites that include the brand’s handbags have many listed between $1,000 and $2,000 each.
Security personnel told police that a large rock had been used to smash the window of the store, at which time around 15 black males entered the store and stole 20 to 30 handbags and shoes on display while ignoring security personnel’s orders to stop.
The group fled in five vehicles, one of which was spotted by police as it fled the scene. One of the vehicles used in the burglary, a black Dodge Challenger, was found abandoned nearby, damaged due to being driven so hard.
The other vehicles believed to be involved in the burglary were a silver Ford Edge, a gray Hyundai Sonata, a silver Ford Equinox, and a silver Cadillac.
BuckheadView believes this is the first major crime incident that has taken place at Buckhead Atlanta since the multi-use retail, restaurant and residential development opened 11 months ago in mid-September 2014.
