The GMA induction took place (June 29th) in Savannah at its annual convention. Ringgold Mayor Joe Barger and Barnesville City Manager Kenny Roberts were also added to the Hall of Fame. Massell was nominated by Atlanta City Council President Caesar Mitchell.

In addition to Mayor of Atlanta, Massell’s other elected offices included two years on the City Council of Mountain Park, GA; eight years as secretary of the Atlanta City Executive Committee, and eight years as president of the Atlanta Board of Aldermen/Vice Mayor.

Massell currently serves as president of the Buckhead Coalition, a nonprofit civic organization operating like a chamber of commerce, a tourist bureau, and a Community Town Hall.

The Municipal Government Hall of Fame recognizes “current and past municipal officials who exemplify the very best in public service and who, throughout their careers, have made extraordinary contributions to their cities and been a strong supporter of GMA”.
