Beat the heat at Ice Cream Social Saturday after Farmers Market
Slow Food Atlanta’s Annual Ice Cream Social will start at noon, just after the Peachtree Road Farmer’s Market, and last until around 2 p.m. So, come to the Farmers Market early, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon, and stay around to join some of Atlanta’s top chefs for an afternoon of interesting and creative treats at what has become a sweet summer tradition in Buckhead.
The cost of admission is $5 for children 5-10 years old and $15 for adults and includes unlimited ice cream tastings. Tickets can be purchased online here, or at the door on Saturday as available (tickets sell out quickly).
The Ice Cream Social invites families, friends and supporters to grab a spoon (that means bring your own spoons) and taste a variety of cool and creamy delights. Churned by renowned local chefs and ambitious amateurs. This year’s participating restaurants include, but are not limited to:

BuckheadView has learned of another treat (through an email) that Delta is offering this Saturday: a free King of Pops popsicle to holders of Delta Skymiles (Amex) Credit Cards. And, there is always a King of Pops cart at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market.
The Delta email reads: “Join us Saturday, June 20th at an Atlanta-area King of Pops cart and enjoy a complimentary popsicle* — our thanks for your continued loyalty. Simply show your Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card at the cart and let the flavor-choosin’, popsicle-slurpin’ fun begin.”
King of Pops started up in April 2010 with a goal to offer the best paletas using local and organic ingredients in a fun neighborhood environment. The pop flavors available at the market regularly feature seasonal ingredients including fresh fruit and herbs.
If you show up at the farmers market by 10 a.m., you also can experience a chef demonstration by Suzanne Vizethann, of Buttermilk Kitchen and the big winner of the Food Network’s CHOPPED competition, featuring a blueberry kale salad.
Vizethann combines her experience working with some of Atlanta’s most creative chefs (Richard Blais and Eli Kirshtein) with her appreciation of time-honored techniques to offer breakfast and lunch all made from scratch at Buttermilk Kitchen—using sustainable, local ingredients—and her monthly fried chicken nights are not to be missed!
