New Atlanta Commissioner of Planning comes from Charleston
“Tim brings the right expertise to help the department meet the long-term goals of my administration,” Reed said. “I am confident that his experience, vision and exceptional commitment to public service will help our city continue to grow in ways that will benefit all our citizens.”
As director of planning, preservation and sustainability in Charleston, Keane led that city’s sustainability, code enforcement, neighborhood beautification and tourism promotion efforts. Before that, he served as planning director for the city of Davidson, N.C. He also started and ran a private design firm.
Subject to the approval of the Atlanta City Council, , Keane will succeed James Shelby, who left city government last September.
Keane is expected to start his new job July 1.
