Atlanta ranked among 35 U.S. sneeziest and wheeziest cities

Atlanta ranked among America’s 35 sneeziest and wheeziest cities this past week in a report released by the New York-based Natural Resources Defense Council warning of the worsening impact of climate change on respiratory allergies and asthma from ragweed and ozone pollution.

The new report will provide a stark warning for policymakers and state officials that millions of Americans who suffer from asthma and respiratory allergies could see their symptoms worsen if climate change goes unchecked.

The report shows that more than 100 million Americans – one out of every three in the U.S. – live in the nation’s “sneeziest and wheeziest” areas.

In alphabetical order, some of the 35 cities ranked along with Atlanta are: Chicago, Detroit, Richmond, Va., and Philadelphia.
