Fashion beachwear retailer Planet Blue to open at Buckhead Atlanta
Known for weaving innovative fashion with the vibrant styles of bohemian beach culture, Planet Blue will open a 3,200 square-foot boutique on Buckhead Avenue, adding to the Buckhead development’s 45 confirmed restaurants and shops.
“Planet Blue’s creative, colorful and casual style aligns with our distinct approach to curate an unrivaled shopping experience for our guests,” said Jeff Zeigler, senior managing director of retail services at OliverMcMillan.
Beginning 20 years ago in Malibu as a tiny shop of organic cotton clothing, Planet Blue has grown into an international omni-channel specialty designer and retailer with shops from California to Japan. Planet Blue is referred to as the original purveyor of the bohemian beach chic aesthetic.
“We’re proud to bring our first store in the Southeast to a true fashion destination among the celebrated luxury brands of the world at Buckhead Atlanta,” said Planet Blue vice president of retail David Lindell.
“The immense online growth and overwhelming excitement we’ve experienced from our customers throughout this region inspired us to bring our signature boutique experience and sun-kissed lifestyle home to Buckhead,” Lindell explained. “We aspire to provide more than just fashionable product; we want every customer to embrace her personal style and make her own waves.”
Buckhead Atlanta opened to the community in September 2014. There are currently 31 retailers and restaurants already open, with another 11 tenants scheduled to open their doors between now and the end of summer.
As the first new retailer announcement in some time was made by OliverMcMillan, it was also obvious interior build-out work is being done at the Jimmy Choo store, which is located on the corner of Buckhead Avenue and Bolling Way, and on the Les Copains store.
Les Copains, which was announced in January along with Billy Reid, Davidoff, Ferguson and Vilebrequin, is an Italian fashion label that is heavily inspired by 60’s French high fashion. Its specialty is knitwear and cashmere.
Buckhead Atlanta will actually be the first Les Copains boutique in the United States. Although the official opening for Les Copains is being listed only as summer, word is that right now the opening is slated for July.
Word also is that Spanx will move into its new world headquarters offices at Buckhead Atlanta during May.
